On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.
She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine. An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.
Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.
Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.
Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

My Take:

Contemplating on telling the love of your life you like them is hard enough throw in being  kidnapped, you have the means of survival, even when  your kidnappers are showing restraint and keeping you 'safe' doesn't mean it's the safe you need. Sofia just thought she was normal but when she is taken to a place the sun doesn't shine, and people with fangs anyone would be on the offense. Especially when she takes to the prince of darkness himself, Derek Novak. Because she is human she is in constant danger, and with escape doesn't mean she will be able to get back home. The only thing to count in is the princes' word and even for him it's hard enough.

Waking up 400 years later to find that your siblings woke you up because they couldn't keep the place in order. Derek's way didn't go through and the kidnappings of humans are just the one thing that changed. They are slaves their purpose is to be the meal. The one to open his eyes is Sofia, who also opened a part of the self he thought he had lost. Protecting her is the only thing preventing him from tearing into her skin. She challenges him and even though she is young it's her presence  that changes his mind. But how long can Sofia stay and if given a chance would she leave Derek behind, or will a greater darkness come and split them apart forever.

A Shade of Vampire literally had me wondering what is to come and even though I would hate to be taken, would my kidnapper be so generous. I love vampire stories and this gave me a taste into a world I would consider venturing into. All we got was one shade of this story now for the others to let us know what Sofia and Derek do next, plus could there be light where there is darkness.

A simple mission turned deadly.

Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father’s presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn’s life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue.

When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

My Take:
Ever want something more than to be put behind closed doors, protected comes at a price right? For Dawn being the daughter of the vampire president means that she must be protected, and has been trained just in case. Teaching the children to defend themselves has always been okay job, helping out is something Dawn knows to do. Its until her father allows her to recruit four vampires and train them to protect the town known as Angel Creek. Of course being allowed this comes with her father providing the house with weapons that is needed for the duration of her stay.

Entering a new small town isn't easy at all, because being the talk of the town and add in the fact that she is a vampire makes her presence the topic of the town. Vampires of course came out to the world years before, so being one gains a simple popularity, but for Dawn being a made one is added popularity and of course word spreads like wild fire. Training a vampire team to be the best isn't all that easy, especially when you have Brooke who loves the spot light a little too much, Sophie who always has her head stuck in a book, Hunter who is the drunk in the group, and of course Seth who is new to being a vampire. Her team may seem like a far cry from the towns protectors, but with Dawn's help they learn to become that team. Of course with the added help of super cute Ethan who seems to always pop up. Training seemed to be fine, until a human is kidnapped and since they are a team they rush into to save the day, its until they find out why said human was captured. Turns out being sent to a new small town really stinks just ask Dawn. So when your father sends you to a small town just stay away unless of course the town has someone named Sebastian who looks also familiar too Dawn.

While reading this, I couldn't help but like Sebastian he has this inner soul going for him. Also liked the fact that Dawn grew as a character, with her patience with her team and than rushing to save someone who she saw as a friend, well that was crazy. Even though Ethan popping up every so often was fine I actually liked that he was there. He seemed like the type to want to help in any way, the big question was of course Sebastian and why he didn't want to join in the group training. Also his connection with Dawn omg was that some connection. I loved every minute reading this even though its taken a long time to type what I felt while reading this. The book itself was beautifully crafted and terminated so well, I mean it had me crying so when that happens it usually keeps me speechless for awhile. So you want something swoon worthy this is your ticket

Review:Stefan's Diaries: Bloodlust #2 by L.J. Smith

A new beginnig . .
When Stefan Salvatore's first love turned him into a vampire, his world—and his soul—were destroyed. Now he and his brother, Damon, must flee their hometown, where they risk being discovered . . . and killed.

The brothers head to New Orleans, looking for safe haven. But the city is more dangerous than they ever imagined, full of other vampires—and vampire hunters. Will Stefan's eternal life be forever damned?

Based on the popular CW TV show inspired by the bestselling novels, Stefan's Diaries reveals the truth about what really happened between Stefan, Damon, and Katherine—and how the Vampire Diaries love triangle began.
My Take:
While reading I referenced a lot of the show and pinpointed where the show was taking it and where the book was following the back story. It definitely different from he show in the sense that you get more of the bad Stefan and at the same time you get that he is realizing what he did and why he did those bad things. His brother is now hell bent on destroying him and you get the sense that he is now realizing that Stefan is to blame for why his feelings have magnified. It was cool because you get the bad Stefan and of course the Stefan you want to see the good Stefan. New town, new life basically here Stefan and Damon go there separate ways while everything is basically for the taking Stefan doesn't really care who he gets first as long as its warm. What's cool is that Lexie comes into the picture and you see a different side of her than the show has done for her character. She gives Stefan good advice and I loved that she basically told him that he is lucky to be living and still have his human emotions. Damon is very like himself or season 1  and he just wants Stefan to suffer and to quote him, "Forever is a long time brother." With the third one out already and of course the 3rd season out in the fall I wonder what other troubles Stefan can come across. Oh Damon how you make me smile whenever I hear your wisecracks.

Review:Stefan's Diaries: Origins #1 by L.J. Smith

Set during the Civil War, against a backdrop of grand estates, unimaginable riches, and deadly secrets, three teenagers in Mystic Falls, Virginia enter a torrid love triangle that will span eternity.

Brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore are inseparable until they meet Katherine, a stunning, mysterious woman who turns their world upside down. Siblings turned rivals, the Salvatores compete for Katherine's affection, only to discover that her sumptuous silk dresses and glittering gems hide a terrible secret: Katherine is a vampire. And she is intent on turning them into vampires so they can live together-forever.

My Take:
This was great in the sense you the reader was able to find out what happened back than and how Damon acted and how the two brother had a very different relationship than the one we are used too. Being inside his head for a change felt real like I was reading an actual diary learning things that was different or told different because of the perspectives. This is the one where they first meet Katherine and how Stefan really falls for her. He accepted her for her and didn't really care about what she was just so that she can be with him. Its until the show meets the real time of the book and since the show came first you get the sense that something big will bug the hell out of you and this one did but I enjoyed reading it showed a different side of Damon so I loved those parts alot. If you want to know what really happened back than and you enjoy the show pick this one up because it feels like your right there with them and telling him that something will happen.

Review: Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

New York Times Bestselling author Richelle Mead gives us hope in Spirit Bound

"Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong…

After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri’s birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir’s—and to her best friend, Lissa. It is nearly graduation, and the girls can’t wait for their real lives beyond the Academy’s iron gates to begin. But Rose’s heart still aches for Dimitri, and she knows he’s out there, somewhere.

She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true— Dimitri has tasted her blood, and now he is hunting her. Only this time, he won’t rest until Rose joins him…forever."

Spirit Bound is the 5th book in The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead and while reading this book not only do I have a million and one questions but I guess I gained a better perspective of Rose the view point in which the book is perceived in. This was amazing because it had me on my feet wanting more romance and more fighting those scenes are the ones o die for while reading them and the way Mead is able to design this image in my head. Personally I love that image a lot.

I just want to say that even though this series is having me on edge, I can't wait to have all the missing pieces to this amazing puzzle. Because it comes out on Tuesday December 7th and I am on edge at this moment in time.
