Twins Sera and Luke Raine have a well-kept secret—she heals with a touch of her hand, he sees the future. All their lives they’ve helped those in need on the sly. They’ve always thought of their abilities as being a gift.

Then Luke has a vision that Sera is killed. That gift they’ve always cherished begins to feel an awful lot like a curse. Because the thing about Luke’s ability? He’s always right. And he can’t do anything about it.

My Take:

Ever wish you can see the future or be able to heal those who are in pain, for Luke and Sera Raine their gifts are more than just apart of them. But those gifts come at price, and when Luke sees Sera die he is determined to change the future. Healing has never been a problem before until Sera heals someone who isn't hurt but actually something no one even knows exists who is a vampire. With the knowledge to change vampires and give them back their humanity comes with the fact that her gift can change the world. But with the mysterious Jonas who tells her she must stop changing vampires, or else, Sera has to realize that even with her brother's help,  she must understand their power is a threat to all the things that see them as a threat to their people.

But when something happens to Sera and Luke's father, the threat is real and even though she had no clue things went bump in the night, she must know when to use her powers and when not to use her powers. As Luke comes to grips with his power, he needs time so that he can save Sera, and that means always being right by her side. The one thing he didn't see coming is getting captured and becoming the bait, so that Sera would come. Yeah seeing isn't always everything and even though he is able to see it, changing it is something much more bigger than that. To make matters worst letting in someone who seems normal into their group is hard enough, even when Sera spends time with Marc, doesn't mean something is off with him. Even Fay says as much, she doesn't trust Marc and his intents with Sera too. Even though your destined to become something, doesn't mean you can change the destiny your destined to have, Luke and Sera combined have the power to change things they also have others looking out for them as well. Who said power can't come in numbers, even in high school, your destiny can change you just have to shape it to fit you.

To have that kind of power, would have been tough to hide from those closest to me. In high school where everyone is basically waiting to see your secret spilled, its crazy to consider. But Sera and Luke seem to pull it off, you have Sera who just wants to be helpful to those she can, and Luke can see things that happen in the future even though he tries to stop it, things just happens, their is no rule book on life. J. Meyers is able to capture the audience with so many perspectives, the audience is able to see and feel what every character goes through. Seeing through the eyes of Luke was my favorite because he can see the future and even though he knows he can't change it he still has faith in what he sees and that he can change the outcome. I liked how Sera couldn't help herself to helping people vampires and humans. She has an amazing kind heart and sees the best in people. With Fey and Marc thrown in you have one who has been by the twins side since birth and one who sees that the twins do change things for the better. Growth of course shown through with both Sera and Luke, they both showed that time can mean adapting to the changes that surround their everyday life. Out of all the powers, I would like to be able to see the future and be able to prevent it.

Luke and his twin sister Sera have unusual abilities. Hers is a gift—she can heal with a touch of her hand. His is a curse—he can see the future but he can’t do anything about it.
On a hike up the mountain, Luke has a vision unlike any other—one that leaves him terrified. Knowing that it will come true—and that he must do everything in his power to stop it—leaves his own future uncertain.

My Take:

Ever wonder that the impossible were actually possible, for Luke and Sera they know first hand because they can do the unimaginative. Luke is able to see the future which is all that great because everything he sees actually comes true. For Sera being a healer has its perks sure, but never has their been someone to question if she actually healed them. If that were to happen, well they probably used against their wishes. So keeping quit about their abilities is easy, not even their parents know about them.  What is crazy though is for Luke having the feeling that a vision is coming and its lasting affects really puts a strain, keeping it from Sera is even harder.

But when he gets that feeling and a big head ache comes, he knows eventually something will come. When it comes though he runs to try and be where his vision lead him, its not until he and Sera are too late to have stopped it. Sera goes and does her healing on the guy but the one thing no one  saw coming was, that after healing the guy felt something. No one has ever felt her their Sera has always been able to mask herself. With this news both are of course question who else might be able to feel the same as the guy. Because if one can than soon enough it will be even more. On the way home though Luke gets that feeling like before except of waiting though the vision comes full force. The one thing he never saw happen before came to him and even though his visions come true, he will stop at nothing to make sure this vision does not come true.

This was actually pretty cool, always wanted to be able to have some type of power, but hiding never really crossed my mind. I guess with their abilities, they have to hide because they can become lab rats. For Luke though his last vision of course will have a full affect on him because he never once saw something through his future eyes and its never been this bad. For Sera to have someone know or kinda know she healed is a little scary because she has always tried to hide and so has her brother for both they have just wanted to live life. People finding out has never really crossed their mind because they lead normal lives, just with an added bonus. This was a nice intro to the story, Luke and Sera have some visions and healing to do, and I can't wait to see what else is next for them.
