It’s summer vacation, the weather’s great, and all the kids are having fun outside. So where’s Greg Heffley? Inside his house, playing video games with the shades drawn.

Greg, a self-confessed "indoor person,” is living out his ultimate summer fantasy: no responsibilities and no rules. But Greg’s mom has a different vision for an ideal summer . . . one packed with outdoor activities and "family togetherness.”

Whose vision will win out? Or will a new addition to the Heffley family change everything?

My Take:

It's another round with Greg Heffley except this time its summer and of course with summer comes alot of complicated. Not only are there dogs involved but Greg is able to go on a trip with Rowley only to find out that his family isn't all what he thought they were. Greg also tries to stay inside and play video games but if his parents could prevent him playing inside they will. Since he wasn't shipped off to Military school Greg in enjoying the summer any way he can. He even has his eyes on Holly Hills sister who is working the pool this summer.

I loved the humor and the fact he wasn't going to just do anything for his crush picking up puke wasn't him and of course with all crushes they come to an end, his trip with Rowley only got his dad more disappointed in him and of course the dog. His father went out and picked up the dog and of course the only thing that the dog is attached to is Greg. He sleeps with him in his own bed, I thought it was adorable but Greg thought other wise. Greg would be woken up at 6 when the dod needed to be let out to do his thing and of course the dog hogged the blankets.

I love this series but I'm taking a break from reading 5 and 6 because my sister won't let me read the 6th one till she read it so I'm stuck. So take it from me this was an adorable diary and of course packed full of Greg Heffley's humor.

Review: Diary of a Wimpy kid: The Last Straw (Diary of a Wimpy Kid #3) by Jeff Kinney

The highly anticipated third book in the critically acclaimed and bestselling series takes the art of being wimpy to a whole new level. Let’s face it: Greg Heffley will never change his wimpy ways. Somebody just needs to explain that to Greg’s father. You see, Frank Heffley actually thinks he can get his son to toughen up, and he enlists Greg in organized sports and other “manly” endeavors. Of course, Greg is able to easily sidestep his father’s efforts to change him. But when Greg’s dad threatens to send him to military academy, Greg realizes he has to shape up . . . or get shipped out.

This time, Greg starts off on New Year’s Day (he resolves to “help 'other' people improve,” telling his mother, “I think you should work on chewing your potato chips more quietly”) and ends with summer vacation. As he fends off his father’s attempts to make him more of a man (the threat of military school looms), Greg’s hapless adventures include handing out anonymous valentines expressing his true feelings (“Dear James, You smell”), attempting to impress his classmate Holly and single-handedly wrecking his soccer team’s perfect season. Kinney allows himself some insider humor as well, with Greg noting the “racket” children’s book authors have going. “All you have to do is make up a character with a snappy name, and then make sure the character learns a lesson at the end of the book.” Greg, self-centered as ever, may be the exception proving that rule.

My Take:

Greg is at it again and this time he tells the truth and sometimes it hurts. Since its a new year he sees it a new beginning meaning that the things everyone says they will do for their resolutions should do them before the year is up. With the threat from his father Greg is doing all he can to show his father that he can listen. Of course without his best friend Rowley the school year isn't complete, with 7th grade almost over he is awaiting the summer but at the same time dreading it if his father chooses to send him off. His father is always trying to shape up Greg but what his father doesn't know is that Greg will do anything to get him to change his mind.

I loved the fact that Greg is growing up at the same time as the reader. Greg may get into trouble but its worth while when he can spend some time with Rowley. Of course with summer coming anything can happen.

The highly anticipated sequel to the #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestselling book!
Secrets have a way of getting out, especially when a diary is involved.
Whatever you do, don’t ask Greg Heffley how he spent his summer vacation, because he definitely doesn’t want to talk about it.
As Greg enters the new school year, he’s eager to put the past three months behind him . . . and one event in particular.
Unfortunately for Greg, his older brother, Rodrick, knows all about the incident Greg wants to keep under wraps. But secrets have a way of getting out . . . especially when a diary is involved.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules chronicles Greg’s attempts to navigate the hazards of middle school, impress the girls, steer clear of the school talent show, and most important, keep his secret safe.

My Take:

Greg Heffley is at again but this time he is a year older and of course that means in the 7th grade. Being in  the 7th grade means crushes on girls that looked different last year and of course more being picked on by his brother Rodrick. Because of what happened over the summer Greg had to get a new diary and because of what happened he is making sure this one never leaves his sight. Of course Rowley is here to back him up in the 7th grade, he understands a best friend is always there. Before summer Rowley had to eat this cheese and he got the cheese touch but Greg being friend he is stepped up for him and said he ate the cheese instead. So most of the first day of school had alot of his class mates running away from him.

I enjoyed this one because Rodrick really gets in trouble and it was a long time coming and being the little brother he is made sure Rodrick got what he wanted. We also got more information on Rodrick's band the Loded Diaper which was funny, the ending was funny as well because of what happened at the talent show I don't want to give too much away so you'll have to read it and find out if you want to get a kick.

Greg always knows how to make me laugh and with middle school still going along Greg is going to have many opportunities to make me laugh even more.

Greg records his sixth grade experiences in a middle school where he and his best friend, Rowley, undersized weaklings amid boys who need to shave twice daily, hope just to survive, but when Rowley grows more popular, Greg must take drastic measures to save their friendship.

My Take:

Diary of a Wimpy kid had me laughing through out the whole book. Greg starts middle school grade 6 and receives a 'diary' that his mother gives him, and puts down his thoughts why attending school. What I found helpful was that Greg went through what all kids must feel on that very scary first day of school. In my case 6th grade was counted in my elementary while Greg had to attend a school that consists of 6-8. Greg decided to account all his adventures and write about them. If only life would be simply, Greg has an older brother Rodrick who annoys Greg to no limit and also a younger brother who annoys him even more. We also meet his parents who don't know what to do with him and his brothers half the time. His best friend Rowley who is there with Greg throughout the book is there because Greg feels inclined to help his friend out.

What I found hilarious was when Greg did something cool or impressive it would lead to him looking mean and uncaring like when he accidentally hurt Rowley, at school all the girls wanted to help and Greg saw that as an opportunity to gain some girl time too and said he was the one who broke his arm, instead that backfired and of course in middle school it follows you everywhere.

This was a great read and any age group can have fun with, because whatever happens in middle school doesn't always stay in middle school.
