What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths—until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

My Take:

Imagine life ahead of our time, a place what we do as a living isn't apparent. Where our government is split up and paints you as a criminal when all your doing is preventing supplies of guns to kill those around you. Day lives this life because he can't see any more chaos and he so he stops cargo being shipped and gives his family a little more time. Failing the trials at the age of ten usually means slavery or worst death, so even though he failed he was given a opportunity to do something. Of course when the Republic wants you they send in the best.

Following orders is in any hand book and given a chance to end a criminal like Day is a step up for June. At the age of ten June was the only on to have a perfect score and was named a prodigy, taught by the best she knew her training would give her a open window for Day. Of course opening your eyes to the truth is not something June thought Day can do. With time running out and the Republic wanting their own justice June has to go against the cause that which brought her up and follow her better judgement. Could a future be in the cards for both June and Day, or will the government prevent a future.

This was a master piece, to see as a possible future it opened up my mind to endless possibilities and of course I couldn't help but smile knowing full well this would make an excellent movie. There were moments where I held my breath and hoped for the best. Day stands up for his family but also starts a rebellion not even realizing he can. At the same time June tries her hardest not believe in a conspiracy but in the end the truth adds up and had me the reader smile because she realized her home wasn't what she thought it was. They were both brilliant in that being able to keep moving forward, Lu mastered the grand scheme and had me believing the end was very much near. So looking forward to Prodigy and pick up where this left off.

Demons don't die without a fight...

After destroying the demon Lucien, Braden—son of Belle Dam’s most powerful warlock, Jason Thorpe—doesn’t need the power of his witch eyes to see that everything in his life is turning against him: friends, family, and even his visions. When disturbing nightmares of Lucien’s return haunt him, Braden discovers that the simmering feud between the city’s two witch dynasties is fast approaching its explosive boiling point.

While struggling to come to terms with his attraction to Trey, Catherine Lansing’s son who should be his mortal enemy, a diabolical plan starts to unveil before Braden’s eyes. Young women are disappearing from Belle Dam, and as he investigates, Braden is forced to explore the dangerous unknown power within himself. But when the truth about his family is revealed, Braden must pay a terrible price.

My Take:

Ever feel that yours eyes can be special or used for something, for Braden living with his eyes has never really been a walk in the park. He's been training to prevent his eyes from taking over but sometimes things get in the way, and getting headaches is the least of his worries. Witch Eyes gave us an intro to the town of Belle Dam and since Lucian's defeat Braden has been living it day by day. But with the tests his father orders, and the stress of not knowing what the eyes are doing, Braden has to realize that the town will find out who he is. All small towns do end up knowing all kinds of secrets, even those hidden very well and for Braden people finding out who he is will change everything.

Falling for Trey just happened and even though he has been repeatedly told to stay away from him, Braden can not help but find his way to him. Just when things to be looking kinda up Braden has others after his power and being haunted by the person you killed can put even more stress. Its up to those around Braden to help solve who the threat is and to trust those who are closer to the truth than they are. When you have others disappearing who else is there to investigate and try to picture the pieces together, with Trey's help Braden tries to find a peace of mind even when his world seems to be crashing down all around him.

For me following the mysteries of Belle Dam was awesome because the town through Braden was easy enough to follow and even though it scared me when he saw Lucian appear again, he knew it had to be related to his eyes. To have his eyes would be cool for a day but the repercussions of it all wouldn't be easy to handle. Scott had me at every corner of this and even had me gasping for breath when danger was happening, this was a wonderful story. So looking forward to Phantom Eyes out in 2013, so counting until i see Trey and Braden together.

Jessie and Jacob haven't liked each other from the day their parents married when they were both teenagers. So five years later when family hero, Marine Jacob Connors, comes home after completing a string of tours overseas, Jessie is less than enthusiastic. However, five years of separation has changed the them and instead of fighting one another, they now find themselves battling over their raging desires for each other.

My Take:

Having a insane crush on your step brother is one thing but with him gone its easier, but when the prodigal brother returns Jessie has to think of ways not to think of Jacob at all. But all it takes is one moment and Jessie is pudding when it comes to his charm and when he says sister it sounds too dirty to be repeated ever again. Jacob never knew Jessie felt the same way as he did and when he returns home she is there and its hard not to want to cross that line. Being with each other is forbidden because both of their parents are married but love hits those who are ready and for Jessie and Jacob they are long over due for being ready.

I liked this little short because even though I see step-sister/ step-brother relationships a taboo its something that is bound to happen. The passion is present and even though they don't see it and try to mask it those feelings only grow with time. I really liked this because it just shows love brings about two unlikely people together and suits them. Loved it.

Trailer Reveal: Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.
But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

Review: The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Standing on the fringes of life... offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.

Since its publication, Stephen Chbosky's haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion has received critical acclaim, provoked discussion and debate, and grown into a cult sensation with over one million copies in print.

It is the story of what it's like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Charlie's letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives. We may not know to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates, family dramas, and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, where all you need is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite.

My Take:

In Perks of Being a Wallflower, Charlie doesn't see himself fitting in any where, high school can be tough but Charlie sees things differently. His mind always wonders why and always questions logic. So fitting in isn't at all easy, so Charlie writes to a friend of sorts and tells that person about his day. Always addressing with a friendly hey, Charlie goes to let us all inside, and through his eyes we see the world differently. He is able to speak to us freely and even when he seems down about something his words always seem to let us all know what he is experiencing. As a freshmen, Charlie meets his English teacher Bill, who forms a friendship with Charlie and gives him different books along the school year. Charlie also meets two seniors willing to give him a chance, they also see him for what he is.

Since its high school and its the 90's, Charlie goes to the parties he is invited too by Patrick and Sam, and along the way goes through adolescence, he of course questions everyones actions and of course wants answers. Girls? Drugs? Even when he asked out he seeks guidance from his sister, or brother and even Sam who seems to know a thing or two. But add in his sense of asking so many things, dating is further from his mind, at least we know his heart is in the right place.

I loved this because the story itself told me things I was always blind too, questioning my actions along the way could be bad, but I liked that Charlie was able to be relatable in a sense. Of course when I found out what happened to him I couldn't stop crying, his story is so beautifully written and I am so glad to at least know he is able to move forward. His heart is still in the moment and of course his questions will never stop to amaze me.

5/5 Stars - loved every minute of this

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex. Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for. Even if it means making war against the gods.

My Take:

Since they all left Deity Island, Aiden has made sure to protect Alex even from herself. Who knew that a birthday can start a feud, the thing is though because of the first Alex blows it and so move again they must do. Time is something gained for Aiden and with each passing day the first can be that much closer. Lucian is raising an army and Seth wants Alex so he can bring forth the wrath on all of them. The one thing Alex told Aiden was that she didn't want to lose herself, the last thing she wanted was to be put into servitude. With the Elixir time is given back to them and with time the gods can come up with other ways to get to Seth.

Everyone knows what the influence of the Elixir can do and if given too much that person stands a chance of not coming back. With time running out and the drug taking away Alex bit by bit, Aiden has but one choice to make. To win her heart back he must be willing to go against the gods themselves, who said love isn't a sacrifice.

This was an amazing novella to read because it gave all the insight of how much Aiden feels about Alex and what he is willing to do to protect her. His choice was the hardest and even though it even broke me, I know the process broke him as well. Aiden is the guy who would end up sacrificing himself for Alex even with his own life. Of course you add in the fact the gods showing up you get a wide range that time really isn't on either side. The gods themselves are willing to sacrifice innocents to stop Lucian and Seth, and since Alex is the key to their demise why not prevent her with a means of escape. At times I saw the Aiden from the first book and also saw the new Aiden willing anything. He is in love and with her just sitting he is happy, that is pure love guys. Her presence alone makes him feel safe, I heart him even more now, so thank you jennifer for giving us this much needed gift through the eyes of a guy worth talking about.

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

My Take:

Ever feel the world is waiting for time to pass by for the worst to come, for Alex time is slipping away and she has more questions that she needs answers. Of course being the Appolyon is something if not to get her out of trouble, but how far can Alex until what she does is too far. Seth of course is trying is hardest to get her to her potential, he wants her to Awaken even quicker than her birthday, that is so not happening right? Seth has another thing coming if he thinks he can bring the doom even more quickly. Of course the one person she always relied on isn't really talking to her and keeping his distance, Aiden. Who said men were not complicated didn't know that love comes with a price.

That price of course will never come to light, because Aiden will never touch her again and with his distance all she has is Seth. Yeah life is complicated and the gods hasn't seen much. With each passing day, and with just one touch from Seth it seems dooms day is approaching much more rapidly. Of course add in the fact that Seth isn't the only wacko, Lucian is calling the shots and he wants more than he can bargain for. Finding out you have a god in your midst is also a surprise no one saw coming. Yup life is tough so who needs enemies when clues couldn't be any more clearer.

The Covenant Series has never felt so awesome, In Half-Blood you saw that Alex is a key of sorts, in Pure, Alex was given a trial of sorts, passing it was not only a test but more than that. So getting into Deity was easy because even there is a clock, you also get that Alex has no control over her decisions and Seth is a idiot to think he can get one over on any of us. Alex is strong and with her friends she is stronger. This chapter in Alex's life was an amazing turn with so many twists, of course some questions where answered and a 100 more where asked. Jen captures the audience and throws them into a world that we all wish were apart of, because Aiden is out there he has to be. I loved this as much as the first too and am so looking forward to more of Alex's story because I am not ready to say goodbye just yet. With pure imagination we get a half-blood living on Deity island a chance to prove the gods her fate is yet unwritten.

5/5 Stars - Aiden omg i loved him he is so swoon worthy

Don't forget to check out the rest of the tour and to stop by again on Nov. 7th for a surprise of sorts.
