Book Review: Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

New York Times Bestselling authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl give us the meaning of Beauty again in Beautiful Creatures.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she’s struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps, and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town’s oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

My Take:
The story is so beautiful, while reading it you feel for the new girl in a small town. I loved he point of view from Ethan who looked towards the future than regretted it every day because it meant one less day with Lena. These two together made sense even if the whole town thought she was for the town and because she had a uncle the town only saw him as their own Boo Radley. I very fortunate to have the two wonderful women who wrote this extraordinary story, Lena's and Ethan's fate is not over yet, there still is more that needs explanations for lets just hope for a beautiful ending.

I want to take this moment to say thanks to the two women who gave us something that has everything you want to read because you feel closely to the characters. With this book I was able get the true meaning of friendship and how you can fall in love with someone who is in your dreams. (lets hope this happens cuz I've been seeing someone famous in my dreams.)

I give is a 5/5 rating

A Beautiful Midnight Release party for A Beautiful Series

Everyone who reads YA knows about Beautiful Creatures and have been anticipating the next novel since the release of the first one, well the wait for Beautiful Darkness is over and a happy release day to Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

So to celebrate the release of the book Borders in Glendale had a party with a crossword puzzle for tickets and tea to feel like we were all in the south, boy were we bad at southern slang.

There was all kinds of swag that I needed to grab before the end of the night. The best thing is I had a blast catching up with the others seeing how this book fell into our laps and that we just couldn't wait to see how long it would take us all to read the new Beautiful Darkness and how long we will be waiting for the next one. (still wondering/hoping there will be another one)

Of course I left happy because look at all the things I got thanks Tami and Marggie for the most gorgeous posters on the planet love the new bad boy HOT is not even a word to describe the nice looking man in one of the posters its amazing.

Of course the lady's couldn't make it but no worries I was able to meet them both at the Smart Chick's Kick It Tour. It was fabulous and I couldn't have had a better time there they were awesome, and I can't wait to see them again soon so that my Beautiful Darkness doesn't feel left behind. So for now I will be looking to reassure my heart that this is not the end but a lovely beginning.

Because these books are awesome to read and all because of one dare maybe someone should dare me to write something (yeah right)

Review: Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

From the author that brought you The Notebook and A Walk To Remember, brings us Safe Haven.

"When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.
But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo's empathic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards . . . and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven."

My take:
Sparks has done it again he has captured my heart and gave me some hope in that women can leave the darkness and start over i love this man thank you for this nick really thank you. The story is written so well that I felt what Katie was going through and I wanted to hold her and tell her that everything was okay and that she was safe. This book is different than his others because the characters involved had to have over come some hard times to get the where the story took place. I'm in love with Alex because he didn't care about Katie's background all he needed was the now I really cared about that because women need someone who will be that person I give it 5/5 because it actually made me cry at the end, and it touched my heart in so many ways. Go and see for yourself because it will change your mind about Nicholas and his type of writing.

Orange County Children's Book Festival

Let me start by saying this event was awesome because the authors who were at the event, their genre differs from the rest and I was able to see different authors and I was able to listen to different stories and I was intrigued. Of course with every event there is the journey there and this time we didn't get lost I attended with some friends andthe drive was easy no getting lost adventure this time. The moment we got there I was pumped and anxious with meeting some of today's hottest authors. As the time went on we were able to go from booth to booth and find the one booth we wanted to get to and it was The Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore because we wanted to grab the books of the authors that were there so we were able to grab and learned all of the authors that were there. After buying my copy of Personal Demons (love the author) by Lisa Desrochers. We ran into Becca Fitzpatrick the wonderful author who wrote hush, hush who I met back when the book came out. We stayed around the booth and saw who was talking one author every 15 minutes speaking of course of the books they wrote.

One of the authors everyone seemed the
most excited for was Lauren Kate. She was a hit and a wonderful person I am forever grateful to have met her today. Even though I haven't read Fallen or the newest one to the series Torment I have heard so many great things I bought Fallen there also I'm happy. She is really nice and the series seems promising stay tuned for my review coming soon.

Through out the day we stood mainly in the YA section of the festival getting excited as every 15 minutes new authors would go up there. Some including Amber Benson who is an actor turned writer she talked about Among the Ghost. Others included Mary Hanlon Stone the author of invisiblegirl. It seems really interesting and I'm looking forward to reading it soon. Also Barbara A. Mahler who wrote The hole in the sky which has won so many awards, this one seems interesting also and there was a plus she gave us butterfly tattoos (score!!!)

The last author we were looking forward to was Lisa and so at 2:15 she came on stage and talked about the book and how she wrote for her daughter and how writing that one time got her to stick with writing and we are all so grateful for her writing.

This is what I did today meet with a bunch of authors got told many times to buy there books and that i should hurry up and read them and of course the never ending book pile is still well never ending until next time.
