Ari can’t help feeling lost and alone. With teal eyes and freakish silver hair that can’t be changed or destroyed, Ari has always stood out. And after growing up in foster care, she longs for some understanding of where she came from and who she is.My Take:
Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued.
She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very...different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.
Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed.
This was amazing wow never thought I would ever read about one greek legend that has always fancied me become like this. Really enjoyed reading about Ari, she is exceptionally strong willed and has power even if she doesn't know it yet. The big bad ass villain in this is Athena and everyone knows she isn't afraid of anything (right). Kelly did remind me of some greek legends and how that spiked my interest by alot. The cover of course calls my attention because it has a gate, but I read what it was about and finally gave it a try, my instincts told me somethings were not as they seemed and I knew some characters mentioned would be essential to Ari and help her out with her family's curse because personally that would suck the moment you mature BOOM!!!! You aren't you anymore, you are the opposite of good and might as well join up with the biggest B there is Athena.
I really enjoyed the greek legend used this way always wondered what could happen when its set like this really this is a fantastic read should check it out. I forgot to mention it also has vamps and witches and they all live in the New 2 which is New Orleans but different.
5/5 Stars
